It Doesn’t Have To Be Perfect

By now you’ve got a goal set and you’re starting to formulate a plan to help you stay on track. As much as we all wish we could stay on track 100% of the time, it’s inevitable that we’ll SLIP UP.

Even if you are 99% accountable that means that 1% of the time you aren’t doing what you are supposed to do. Authors of books, coaches and even your favorite social media gurus aren’t saints (no surprise there…), every one struggles with temptation and will power daily. The real secret is getting back up. Don’t let human nature de-rail your ultimate goal.

Lets take a look at an example:

Say your goal is to accumulate 10,000 steps in a day’s time and you fall short one day. Don’t throw in the towel just make up those missed steps tomorrow! We all fail. It happens. But how we learn and how we grow from failure is what matters most in our growth. It’s not going to be perfect, it shouldn’t be. The road to success requires sacrifice and dedication.

What if your goal is to finish a Whole30 (one of the more strict elimination style diets in the paleo world)? What happens if you have a moment of weakness? Will you throw in the towel and quit? Of course not. Focus on being better prepared for next time.

Just like we have progressions in place at the gym to break down complicated, high skilled movements. Why not do the same for the stuff you struggle with outside of the gym? Use every misstep as a reminder that you need to prepare a little bit more the next time.
